It's that time of the year again, when the service industry scrambles to compete for the dollars that lovers and couples will spend to create romantic memories.

My wife and I, in contrast, will be spending a quiet day at work, followed by dinner at home.

Celebrating Valentine's Day in Singapore is an expensive and troublesome affair. This is a great opportunity for the various vendors and providers of services to jack up prices to astronomical levels.

Although a gift is a form of expression of love, I feel that it is important to remember that love encompasses much much more.

We should not forgot that more often than not, it's the simple things in life that gives us much meaningful pleasure.
